PR is not marketing, it is storytelling and connecting people with ideas. Storytelling is the ultimate form of communication and an inextricable part of the human experience. It inspires, informs, and serves as an indispensable platform for the human mind to imagine, create, develop and share.

Through a combination of creative strategy and refined tactical execution, we help our clients in musical instrument technology, professional and consumer audio articulate their stories  — and their brand vision — to our close network of influential trade and consumer media.

With a universe of trusted media relationships and an unmatched pedigree of success, we represent both multi-national brand leaders who have shaped our industry as well as innovative start-ups who promise to change the very face of our industry.

Who we are

We are a team of professional writers and communicators with decades of collective experience in PR, branding & identity and marketing communications

President

Jeff Touzeau

Read Bio

Though he’d rather be twiddling knobs on his modular synthesizer or reading Shakespeare, Jeff has been a strategic communicator and public relations pro for over 25 years. As a journalist, has written hundreds of features in publications such as Pro Sound News, Tape Op, EQ and Professional Sound and is also the author of five published non-fiction titles. The sometimes marathoner is chasing all six of the World Majors and is also a big fan of the Oxford comma.

COO/CFO

Kim Carlson Touzeau

Read Bio

The co-founder COO/CFO of Hummingbird Media, Kim is as handy and organized at home as she was handling management positions at Apple, IBM, Sega and Showtime. Her Duke BA and NYU MBA degrees have set her up nicely for a future as a house-flipping alpaca farmer. When she is not doing finance tasks or petting alpacas, you can probably find her knitting in front of a Duke Blue Devils hoops game.

Account Director

Steve Bailey

Read Bio

Steve expertly conveys very specific stories across a wide range of demographics, which helps in leading an unpretentious power-pop band—The Sharp Shadows—within the hipster epicenter of Brooklyn, NY. He worked in PR and operational roles at various nonprofits before joining Hummingbird to feed his passion for music and technology, as well as provide a better life for his two cats. If we’re not careful, his combined knowledge of WWII history and guitar-pedal tinkering could lead to a blitzkrieg of noise.

Account Manager

Shelby Coppola

Read Bio

Having worked for three years in the film business as an Executive Assistant, Shelby began working with Hummingbird five years ago, putting her writing and pitching skills into practice. Using her innate fast-paced work-style from working on and off set, Shelby is now an Account Manager at Hummingbird. In her downtime, this francophile can be found taking film photography or spinning vinyl as she types away on her vintage typewriter inside her Brooklyn home, often accompanied by a freshly made cappuccino and an orange cat named Wash.

Account Manager

Ashley Kinchen

Read Bio

Hailing from Austin, the Live Music Capital of the World, Ashley Kinchen is an account manager — keeping clients well served in the lifestyle and consumer facing dimensions of Hummingbird. Ashley is nimble in her coverage placements, routinely working with top editors in both consumer lifestyle and professional audio. After more than a decade serving customers in the hospitality and retail industries, this trained Chef-turned-PR pro spends her spare time nurturing her houseplants or treasure hunting at local antique and thrift shops.

Writer

Steve Harvey

Read Bio

With more than 40 years of experience working in almost every dimension of the pro audio industry, Steve Harvey is a highly prolific west coast-based writer whose work has appeared in dozens of top industry trade publications. As a content and application expert inbroadcast, live audio, recording, systems integration and related areas, he is conversant in both legacy technology and next wave audio innovations and well known as a leading communications professional inside the audio industry. An accomplished musician, Steve is a drummer and a member of Medium Medium, known for its post-punk dance anthem "Hungry, So Angry," released in 1981 on legendary UK-based Cherry Red Records.

Account Manager

Hunter Williams

Hunter is a graduate of SUNY Purchase's prestigious Conservatory of Music, where he cultivated a deep understanding of music production and composition. His passion for music, paired with his ability to connect with others, contributes to his success as a collaborator and valued team member. When Hunter takes a break from the studio, he can be found exploring hiking trails and embracing the beauty of camping. Inspired by his experiences in nature, he produces captivating chill electronic music. Currently based in Westchester, NY, you might spot Hunter at Yankee Stadium or catching a DJ show in Brooklyn.

Public Relations Associate

Caroline Touzeau

Read Bio

Currently pursuing a dual degree in Communications and Psychology at University of Michigan, Caroline also performs double-duty for Hummingbird on social media and media placement tasks. While this a cappella singer/arranger cheers for the Wolverines, her heart belongs to pandas, and she always has a soccer ball rolling around in the back of her car.
